Precious Lord,
Thank you for my invincible Advocate, your Son, Jesus. Who better to stand in my place? What better representative before your heavenly courts could a human ever desire?
You say you've cast down the "Accuser" of God's people – the devil – and you have (Revelation 12:10). He'll never win a case against Jesus.
Though my sins should buffet me, though my guilt should crush the spirit out of me, though my failures and crimes weigh heavily on my mind, I turn to my Advocate, and find peace.
I confess, O God, I did the crime.
But I confess by faith, O Judge of the Living and Dead, Christ did the time.
So when my Advocate argues for my release, he has an airtight case. Heaven lays no charge against me. The devil has no power against me. My sins, however heinous, neither define me nor confine me.
I am ruled not guilty and I am declared righteous once for all through the perfect Advocacy of Jesus Christ. I rest my heart today in the One who loved me, and never ceases to rise in my defense.
Help me, Gracious Father, to sound forth Christ's advocacy for my friends today who struggle with guilt and shame.
In the name of my Advocate, I pray,
Amen.
For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; (Hebrews 9:24)
Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. (Hebrews 7:25)
And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. (1 John 2:2)
