When we look back on our lives, we may be overcome with regret at the obstacles we've faced along the way, including the legalistic upbringing that gave us a misguided and potentially harmful view of God, the darkness and shame through which God has tried to reach us, the brokenness of our relationships, and the fact that all of these things at one time seemed insurmountable. But he managed to get through to us.
